He is one of the most successful North American comic authors of the present day – and one of the most multifaceted. Jeff Lemire’s work ranges from autobiographical, realistic accounts such as Essex County to fantastical superhero series and science fiction and horror comics such as the recent titles Black Hammer and Descender. The Canadian artist has made a name for himself not only as an illustrator but also as a writer and letterer, with his distinctive handwriting gracing a wide range of team compositions. The exhibition includes more than 130 drawings, watercolours, sketches and notebooks from Jeff Lemire’s studio in Toronto and is the first-ever comprehensive showcase of his work.
